Khedum – An unexplored heaven in the mid of nature

If you are looking for a brand new beautiful destination then Khedum is a perfect match for you. This place is ideal for camping and walking through nature. Here you can experience a walk on hanging bridge, can take a bath in to a natural pond which is created by a waterfall named as ‘Twin Sister’, You can walk through nearby village and also can experience local dishes and local culture.

Location: Khedum is in North Sikkim, on the way to Lachung, which is the base point of Yumthum Valley. Khedum is just 10km before Lachung and 10 km after Chungthung.

What to see:
The things to see in Khedum is Nature..Nature and Nature. Khedum is a beautiful place surrounded with high hills. You will find a flowing river here, here a hanging bridge is perfect for adrenalin rush, a natural pond with waterfall is ideal for your bath and a village with smiling people is good for knowing their culture.

How to reach:

To reach Khedum you have to take a car from gangtok(the capital of Sikkim) then you have to follow the route to Lachung(North Sikkim). After crossing Chungthung go another 8km Just 1km before Lachung Waterfall) then take right from there , you will find a lonely path going downwards from the main road.Follow this path , this path will lead you up to a river, cross first bridge then the path will turn right and go slide upwards now follow this path up to the second bridge. Now you are at Khedum.

How to plan:

For Khedum ideally you need three days.

Ideal Plan:

Day1: Gangtok to Lachung(Night stay in Hotel)

Day2: In early morning Lachung to Yumthum, Zero point then back to Lachung Hotel. After having your breakfast move towards Khedum . Move around Khedum and surroundings. Night Stay at Camp.

Day3: After lunch leave Khedum for Gangtok.

  3. Wht r the facilities in this camp? Is it ideal to stay with kid?

    • Yes!! Of course. The camp where we stayed was good enough.They provided us clean blanket with good pillow and it was really a different experience to stay in a camp there.

      • Whether car will reach up to camp? Here you mention two bridge need to cross to reach khedum.

    • Those camps were really good enough to spend one night or two. They provided us clean blanket with white pillow. It was amazing experience to spend a night there inside camp.

  4. We are a grp of 8 adults and two child of 3 yrs, will it be possible to stay in the tent with kids in December end ????

    • That time it will be too cold there..But you may still stay in tent. Keep sufficient number of woolen with you.

  5. Can I go there in middle of June?? Is it safe that time?

    • 1. No this is not a hot spring.
      2. There is no home stay at Khedum, you will find homestay at Lachung.
      3. Tent will cost nearly 1200-1500per head per day.
      4. You may get to see some wild animals.
      5. January it will be coldest month.
